When faced with a problem many Aussie families go through, a Townsville mum decided to turn to a creative outlet but she never anticipated how it would grow over the next six years.

Chase Clothing & Co started as a creative outlet and side hustle for Danielle Barry, who is also an embroiderer at her family’s locally owned uniform business, Unique Embroidery and Uniforms.

Ms Barry and her husband Kyle took the emotionally and financially taxing journey through IVF after tests revealed ‘unexplained infertility’.

The Nome woman, who originally hails from Giru, will celebrate this Mother’s Day as a mum of two.

“We are so lucky to have had Chase in 2018, who the business is named after, and then Layla in 2019, who was conceived naturally following the IVF battles,” she said.

“While we have been able to feel that indescribable joy that two little lines on a stick can bring, we are also away of how much pain one line can bring.

“Mother’s Day can be such a hard time for women going through IVF of battling infertility.”

During her ‘emotional rollercoaster’ of the IVF process Ms Barry said she needed a distraction and began a homemade clothing brand.

Mrs Barry designs, prints, presses and embroiderers everything for the brand herself on locally bought clothing and materials.

She described Chase Clothing & Co as ‘country with a hint of rock for the whole family’, a style which has attracted a following from around the country.

“The best achievement is seeing our products around town knowing people love it as much as we do,” Ms Barry said.

“Our matching mum, kids and bub collections are always really popular, especially around Mother’s Day.”
